TITLE: Director of Scholarships and Student Completion
DEPARTMENT: REPORTS TO: Chief of StaffEFFECTIVE DATE: TBDEMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-time EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Exempt SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY: The Director Scholarships and Student Completion will provide vision, leadership and active management to support scholarships, persistence, cohort progression and academic support efforts. The person selected for this position will lead college faculty and partners across campus to enhance student success and completion. The Director is responsible for leading the university retention and persistence efforts; cohort progression initiatives, developing/managing budgets; recruiting, developing, and supervising staff; advocating for students; and collaborating with campus partners to aid students in handling academic, financial and personal issues that affect time to degree and academic performance.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Stewardship of Scholarships and Donor RelationsDevelop, implement and sustain the completion plan and retention strategiesDevelop effective relationships in student support and academic support with the Registrar, Advising, Thorobred Learning Center, Career and Professional Development, Financial Aid, Counseling Center, Residence Life, Veterans, and Military Affairs, Testing Center, and Disability ServicesCollaborate with Institutional Research in preparing and reporting on student success including transfer and transient enrollmentCollaborate with Admissions and Registrar as needed on student performanceCollaborate with the Office of Financial Aid in the determination of academic qualifications for scholarshipsCollaborate with Brand Identity to maintain scholarship information, database/dashboard on awards
OTHER DUTIES: Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:Master’s degree required; Doctoral degree or other appropriate terminal degree preferred
4+ years experience working in Higher Education or management and supervisory experience Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skillsSupervisory experienceAbility to work nights and weekends KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:Superior listening and critical thinking skills and the ability to multi-taskExperience with data collection and reportingExperience managing, supervising, evaluating, and motivating staffCandidates should have the ability to become knowledgeable of the range of varied student services available, enrollment services, academic policies, requirements, and procedures of Kentucky State UniversityStrong interpersonal/human relations skills essentialAbility to initiate and maintain professional relationships with diverse groups, demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of a diverse student population including low-income, first-generation, students of color, disabled, underrepresented, older and non-traditional, and international studentsMust have excellent verbal and written communicationThe ability to maintain confidentiality is essentialMust have attention to detailBasic skills in productivity software (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel)Familiarity with or willingness to learn SMS and student success softwareAbility to collect, analyze and report retention-related data. Must be able to multi-task, prioritize, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlinesMust have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and possess excellent organizational skillsAbility to interpret and communicate university policies and procedures and associated federal and state regulations PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
