Princeton University

The Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Princeton University invites applications for postdoctoral research associates or more senior researchers for the newly established Postdoctoral Initiative Program, for early career scientists who will conduct research in the areas of ecology, evolution and behavior. We are interested in receiving applications from members of groups that have been historically underrepresented in ecology, evolutionary biology and related fields. Candidates who have demonstrated a strong commitment to remedying the historical under-representation of people of color in the areas of ecology, evolutionary biology and related fields through work promoting inclusion, equity, and diversity through teaching, advising, mentoring, advocacy, or public outreach are especially encouraged to apply. Diversity and inclusion are central to Princeton University's educational mission and its desire to serve society. Members of the department have a deep commitment to being inclusive. We believe that commitment to principles of fairness and respect for all is favorable to the free and open exchange of ideas, so we seek to reach out as widely as possible in order to attract the very best and most talented individuals as students, faculty, and staff. Appointments will be made at the postdoctoral or more senior research rank. Appointments are for one year, renewable annually based on satisfactory performance, for a total of up to three years and includes a research fund. The expected starting date is on or about September 1, 2021, although this is flexible. A Ph.D. in a related field is required. Applicants must apply online at https://www.princeton.edu/acad-positions/position/20021 and include a curriculum vitae, a one-page statement of research experience and interests, and a cover letter that includes names and contact information of three references. A personal statement and/or a description of the applicant's work in broadening opportunities in the field for underrepresented minorities should be included as a separate section of the research statement. All applications received by April 30, 2021, 11:59 pm ET will be fully considered, but applications will continue to be accepted until the position(s) are filled. This position is subject to the University's background check policy. Princeton University is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
