Postdoctoral Scholar: Metabolic Changes in Alzheimers Neurons
The Departments of Biomedical Engineering in the Henry Samueli School of Engineering currently accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar in the area of the age-related metabolic basis of Alzheimer's disease. You will perform cell biology experiments to alter the course of age-related metabolic changes in neurons in culture and in vivo from Alzheimer-like transgenic mice under the direction of Dr. Gregory J. Brewer (http://brewer.eng.uci.edu). The NIH funded project examines hippocampal changes with aging that affect Alzheimer's disease. You will discover crucial metabolic interventions to alter the processing of beta-amyloid. The appointment will be full-time for a one year. Renewal of the contract will be contingent on the availability of adequate funding and performance. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Note: Total duration of an individual's postdoctoral service may not exceed five years, including postdoctoral service at other institutions. Requirements: Ph.D. in neuroscience, cell biology, or mitochondrial bioenergetics and interest in Alzheimer's disease. Fluorescence image analysis (Image J), autophagy and bioenergetics experience preferred.
Salary: $54,540 - $58,608
