Job Details

The University of North Alabama’s Department of Cinematic Arts and Theatre invites applications for a one-year visiting assistant professor beginning in Fall 2021. 

The successful candidate will be expected to produce creative work while maintaining excellence in teaching; develop and maintain an agenda of research and/or creative activities relevant in the field; perform recruiting activities for the department; attend faculty and other relevant meetings; mentor students in the department; manage department equipment and facilities; and foster diversity and inclusion among students.

The initial review of applications will begin on April 19, 2021 and continue until the position is filled.

The successful candidate will teach a 12-credit hour course load for the fall and spring semester that cover various levels of film production (including Intro to Film Production, Intermediate Film Production, and Advanced Film Production); assist in supervising aspects associated with the department’s film productions; perform student advising duties; provide service to the university community; oversee/manage facilities and equipment; supervise student workers; and perform other duties as assigned.

A terminal degree in a discipline of film production is required (MFA). Experience in teaching film production, editing, and cinematography is preferred. Candidates must have a proven track record of professional work related to film production.
