The Associate Director, Industry Engagement plays a critical role in corporate relations and the development of career opportunities, which will advance the careers of all Rotman students and graduates. The ability to generate and manage strong partnerships with senior executives and recruiters is central to advancing the school’s vision of national and international pre-eminence in business education.

Reporting to the Director, Career Services the Associate Director is responsible for the management of the Industry Engagement team within the Career Services office. The mandate of the Industry Engagement team is marketing the Rotman School’s growing portfolio of programs to prospective employers and building and maintaining productive recruiting relationships with major corporations around the world. In consultation with the Director, Career Services, the incumbent also develops strategic initiatives that are consistent with industry engagement goals for Career Services.

The Associate Director manages and oversees the on-campus recruiting process and manages Industry Advisors to ensure that service delivery is optimized and that the mechanics of campus recruiting are communicated to both student and Corporate Partner stakeholders.


MBA or masters in a related field (e.g. Human Resources) or equivalent combination of education and experience.


A minimum of 8 years progressively more senior experience in career education, business development, client relationship management including experience in a corporate environment with a focus on career development. At least 3 of these years would include experience in successfully managing/leading a team of professionals.

Corporate experience may be in outplacement/search where knowledge of industries is broad- based or within a specific industry sector(s) where deep knowledge of the corporate industry(ies) has been gained. Experience working with mature graduate students is an asset as is corporate knowledge of on-campus/graduate recruitment.


Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with a strong emphasis on influencing skills; outstanding organizational ability, thorough knowledge and understanding of training and development skills, Curricula/program design and delivery, presentation skills and an ability to relate well to the highly diverse and demanding communities of students and corporate partners. Outstanding customer service focus is essential.

A deep understanding and pragmatic approach to career development and coaching coupled with an understanding and appreciation for corporate needs.

A good understanding of the graduate business education and employer market and managerial/leadership competencies.

Ability to work independently, set priorities and work schedules to meet deadlines; demonstrated decision-making skills in a fast-paced, demanding, dynamic environment.

Tact, discretion, sensitivity to confidential matters.

Able to work effectively with a wide variety of people at different levels of the University and with external stakeholders.

Strong computer skills; good knowledge of MS Office and an understanding of how to use databases effectively.

Knowledge of/certification in a variety of career assessment tools.

Proven success in leading a large team of professionals in a demanding environment.
