Assistant Professor of Theatre – Lighting Design
COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON is accepting applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment in the Department of Theatre and Dance, which begins August 16, 2021. The Department of Theatre and Dance is NAST accredited, offering BA and MAT degrees in Theatre and a BA in Dance.
We are seeking a candidate with a specialization in Lighting Design. Additional areas of specialization are open, but may include: Production/Stage Management, Video Design/Production, Sound Design/Engineering or related topics. In addition, this candidate may teach introductory theatre courses and courses that meet CofC’s General Education requirement. Online teaching experience is also desired.
Responsibilities include: teaching courses in electrics, CAD, design fundamentals, advanced lighting design and related areas, production work including designing, mentoring student designers, and supervising electricians for the department’s season, maintaining existing inventory, department and College committee service, serving as an academic advisor, assisting in recruitment activities, and continued research and professional activity.
MFA in Lighting Design or Theatre Production by August 15, 2021;
Professional experience in theatre;
Prior undergraduate teaching experience strongly preferred.
