The Institute of Human Virology, Division of Epidemiology and Prevention, School of Medicine, University of Maryland is recruiting for a faculty position in epidemiological research of HIV/AIDS at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful applicant will also have a primary appointment in the Department of Epidemiology & Public Health. The person selected for this position will be dedicated to research in the area of HIV/AIDS. She/he will be expected to engage multidisciplinary approaches including research and publications in infectious disease and non-communicable disease surveillance, and scaling up care and implementation science research. The candidate will mentor graduate students in epidemiology, participate in teaching and contribute to the department’s and school’s programs through professional service. Since much of the proposed research involves studies in sub-Saharan Africa, prior experience in working in this environment is highly desirable.  The candidate selected will be expected travel to Africa for periods of up to one month or more as needed to implement research projects.

 

The successful candidate is published in the field and has a track record of early investigator funding. The Candidate will engage in collaborative research that draws upon the expertise of scientists from the Institute of Human Virology, Department of Epidemiology and Prevention, affiliated international sites, and other strategic partnerships.  The candidate must be committed to ongoing pursuit of research funding from NIH, evaluation funding from CDC, foundations and other sources.



Qualifications
Applicant must have an MD/MBBS, and/or PhD degree (in epidemiology or related discipline or equivalent experience and a documented track record of publications and external research funding.
