Position Description:
The MFE program prepares students for quantitative and technically sophisticated jobs with financial institutions, financial service providers, suppliers of financial consulting services, financial software and systems providers, and in corporate treasuries. The Director of Career Advising & Employer Relations oversees employer and alumni relations and outreach, and is responsible for developing, managing and implementing efforts to support students in their full-time and internship search. The Director also oversees the career advising and programming function of the MFE students in partnership with the Senior Manager, to provide skill building workshops and individualized career counseling sessions.

The Director will partner with the Executive Director to determine the most effective recruiting strategies for student placement in internships and full-time positions. Duties related to employer/alumni Relations and recruitment strategies, as well as career advising, include but are not limited to:

1. Build, develop and manage employer contacts and activities with students, faculty and staff.
2. Promote internship/career services and Anderson MFE students to the corporate and alumni community. Partner with the Alumni Career Services and Parker Career Center as appropriate.
3. Maintain and analyze database of information on companies recruiting including a history of their hiring practices and outcomes at Anderson. Explore new technologies to oversee employment related data and career placement statistics.
4. Establish MFE on and off campus recruitment efforts including building the MFE presence in cities outside of LA (NYC, SF, Boston, Chicago).
5. Enhance and strategize on current recruitment efforts based on analysis of data.
6. Partner with the Senior Manger on managing the annual scheduling of interviews for MFE students with diverse firms.
7. Coordinate company visits to campus and outreach to companies on behalf of and/or with students.
8. Generate year-end statistical reports and analysis on recruiting opportunities and outcomes.
9. Represent Anderson and MFE at seminars, conferences, professional networks, other business school affiliations and other external meetings. Partner with the Fink Center at Anderson on events, speakers and a Fellowship program.
10. In collaboration with the ED and faculty advisor, support and oversee student team competitions
11. Present at admission information sessions and other recruiting events as appropriate. Support reviewing admissions applications during peak season.
12. Oversee all communications (including social media efforts) as it relates to promoting our students to employers
13. Lead and organize bi-annual large-scale events including: MFE career fairs and formal alumni gatherings.
14. Partner with the ED on supporting Alumni Chapter efforts across major cities
15. Collaborate with MFE Team members as needed to support large student-centered events including orientation and graduation.
16. Provide individual and group counseling sessions with MFE students to support their career development process
17. Partner with students to evaluate career options including compensation, strategic career moves, networking and mentoring strategies.
18. In collaboration with the Senior Manager of Career Advising & Employer Relations, develop and conduct workshops in areas such as career readiness, resume writing, cover letters, networking, LinkedIn profiles, interviewing and salary negotiations. Where needed initiate and oversee workshops by outside vendors.
19. Other programmatic career services initiatives as needed.
