Asst. Lecturer Position in Multimedia Journalism and/or TV Production

Job description

The Department of Communication at the University of Toledo seeks a dynamic candidate to teach multimedia journalism. Teaching would primarily focus on integrated journalism and production in a multimedia lab environment. Candidates should be prepared to teach undergraduate multimedia courses such as reporting, photojournalism, TV production, advanced TV production, social media, integrated journalism, and podcasting, as well as other departmental core media courses as appropriate. Candidates should be prepared to contribute to curriculum development emphasizing cross-discipline integration of new media technologies and multi-platform journalism. Teaching expectations are four to five courses per semester and the advising of a student media group and other university service. This position will begin in August 2021.

Minimum qualifications:

Applicants must have professional experience in multimedia journalism or TV production or a closely related field, and a Master’s Degree in Communication or a related field. Degree must be completed by start date, with appropriate production experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of multimedia tools such as Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere and other Adobe Creative Cloud software as well as web technologies. Previous teaching experience in this field.
