Job description
Assistant or Associate Professor - Clinical Director, Addiction Treatment Program (M.D., D.O., M.B.B.S.) - This position with the Department of Psychiatry and Health Behavior at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta University, is responsible for addiction treatment and education services within the Medical College of Georgia and Augusta University Medical Center. The department features a SAMSHA funded addiction medicine fellowship program accredited by ACGME.
Duties include classroom instruction of addiction medicine fellows, psychiatry residents and medical students and clinical supervision of psychiatry residents and addiction medicine fellows. The position is responsible for supervision of a substance abuse intensive outpatient treatment program as well as clinics for buprenorphine, naltrexone and esketamine administration. Additional duties include direct patient care in an outpatient clinic setting and provision of addiction medicine consultations on inpatient medical services and in a hospital emergency department.
The position requires taking general psychiatry call including one weekend per quarter, one holiday per year and telephonic call 1-2 week nights per month. Weekend and holiday call involves conducting general psychiatry rounds in the AU Medical Center Emergency Department and on AU Medical Center medical floors on patients being followed by the department’s Psychiatry Consultation Liaison Service.
Minimum Requirements
MD, MBBS, or DO from an accredited institution. Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry . Georgia medical license or eligible to obtain Georgia medical license.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred experience with Addiction Medicine and Board certification.
