Position is full-time calendar year, limited to 02/13/2022, with anticipated renewal.Job Description Summary:
Provide technical support and research assistance of an advanced and often independent nature; assume responsibility for portions of CRC’s US field offshore renewable energy and blue economy national, regional, and local programs.Duties and Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
In coordination with the principal investigator, provide technical support (e.g., development of coastal plans and policies, diffuse scientific and technical information to stakeholders, integrate innovative technical, policy, and technical strategies to respond to stakeholder (public and private sector) needs, development of coastal/ocean management tools and approaches) to CRC’s US field offshore renewable energy and blue economy programs.
Assist principal investigator with the design, promotion, and execution of virtual and in person trainings and other capacity building events for coastal practitioners, resource users, and the public on issues and aspects related to the blue economy sectors (especially offshore renewable energy), integrated coastal resources management (e.g., marine spatial planning, multi-use strategies) and and/or integration of innovation and technologies into coastal/ocean development and conservation.
Assist in the development of research proposals, synthesis of technical information, technical reports, and publishing of research.
Develop work plans, budgets, and progress reports to meet CRC, Sea Grant, and other funder requirements.
Provide responsive support to CRC’s field programs in the candidate’s area of expertise.
Organize and attend trainings, conferences, and workshops, both regionally and locally.
Supervise students in project efforts.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform additional duties as required.
LICENSES, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:
Personal computers, printers; word processing, database, and spreadsheet software. Must provide own transportation.Required Qualifications:
1.Master’s degree in natural resource management, natural resource policy, ocean innovation, communications, marketing, or business.
2.Minimum of three years of professional experience providing technical knowledge (e.g. coastal management, ocean management, blue economy sector, natural resources management, economy, business, marketing, etc.) in a business, environmental, and/or educational organization.
3.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities.
4.Demonstrated ability to be a team player.
5.Demonstrated strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
6.Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.
7.Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
8.Must provide own transportation.
9.Willingness to travel to attend weeknight and weekend meetings.Preferred Qualifications:
1.Demonstrated supervising experience.
2.Demonstrated training experience.
3.Demonstrated experience with websites and social media.
4.Demonstrated experience working in and/or with the commercial fishing industry and/or fisheries management and regulatory arena.
