General Summary

The Assistant Director of Individual Events of Illinois State University will primarily be responsible for the direction, planning, coordination and development of the Individual Events program at ISU, under the supervision of the Director of Forensics. In addition to providing classroom instruction, the Assistant Director of Individual Events will supervise graduate student coaches and undergraduate team members, coach individual and team competitors before and during tournaments, hold weekly meetings with the Director of Forensics as well as the other coaches and team members, assist in fundraising efforts, assist in alumni relations, maintain team morale, travel to tournaments, and judge at tournaments when necessary.

Required Qualifications

1. Master's degree in Communication or equivalent field.
2. Four or more years of experience in intercollegiate speech/individual events as competitor or coach.
3. One or more years of experience in undergraduate classroom instruction.
4. Excellent management, organizational, and communication skills.
5. Professional and mature attitude.
6. Ability to host tournaments.
7. Ability to arrange tournament travel logistics.
8. Possess a valid driver's license and be able to drive State of Illinois vehicles.

Desired Qualifications

1. Knowledge and experience in recruiting.
2. Computer skills including proficiency in Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
3. Ability to use discretion regarding confidential matters.

Work Hours

Office setting. The core work hours of this position are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday. Position regularly requires work beyond regular office hours.
