Job Summary

This position performs highly responsible technical and administrative work while providing support for Human Resources programs. The position requires independent application of a thorough knowledge of human resources theory and related rules, statues, and regulations and compliance with the same. The incumbent must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize as needed.

    Serves as departmental first point of contact by responding to general employee and manager questions related to HR policies, systems, processes and procedures. Maintains human resources records which includes scanning, indexing, reviewing and entering personnel information into computerized databases. Reviews and/or processes various employee-related data changes in the HR information system. These include but are not limited to: personal information, tax status and withholding allowances, general deductions (parking, state charitable, benefits), retirement and savings plan elections, population of TLM panel and employee data and status changes, etc. Serves as the administrator or point of contact for a variety of HR initiatives, systems, policies or processes such as employee well-being, tuition assistance program, dual appointment agreements, HR intranet site, building access and the employee learning and professional development system.Provides general administrative assistance which includes drafting communication announcements, correspondences and reports as needed, coordinating in-person and virtual meeting logistics, processing departmental invoices for payment, assisting departmental administrators with travel arrangements and expense reports.Assists with recruitment close-out and new employee on-boarding by ordering pre-employment background checks for new hires, performing manual data entry into HR information system as needed, preparing offer letters, performing system data checks for accuracy, etc.Reconciles, monitors and processes a variety of benefits reports including ACA, retiree HRA invoicing and benefits reconciliation reports. Provides support for various USG HR related policies, programs and initiatives as needed.Performs other duties as required.
Required Qualifications
    Bachelor’s degree in a related field.At least three years of related experience.An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Must possess a valid Georgia Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications
    Previous experience in Human Resources preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
    Knowledge of the University System of Georgia policies and procedures.Knowledge of human resources principles and practices.Skill in the use of computers and job-related software programs (including HCM, HRIS, ATS, Web Content Management Systems, etc).Proficiency in using a variety of computer software applications including Excel Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, etcSkill in collaborating with multiple constituents.Skill in decision making and problem solving.Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.Skill in oral and written communication.
