The University of Virginia’s College at Wise, Division of Music seeks applications for the position of Adjunct Instructor in Percussion for Fall semester 2021. This is a part-time, semesterly appointment with potential for semesterly renewal. This teaching faculty position also has the potential for collaboration with the Marching Highland Cavalier Drumline. The successful applicant will work collaboratively with fellow Division of Music faculty to teach Applied Percussion to music majors, minors and other UVA Wise students.


Candidate must possess Master’s Degree or higher in Percussion or Music Education, (in lieu of education, candidate may possess commensurate professional experience); have excellent musical, verbal and written communication skills; should possess the ability to teach students with a wide range of musical backgrounds; should be proficient in a variety of musical styles and should be committed to the sustaining and growing the enrollment of the UVA Wise Division of Music. Preference will be given to candidates who articulate a clear understating of UVA Wise’s public liberal arts mission. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is a primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of percussion equipment. The job does occasionally require lifting and moving various percussion instruments.
