Essential Job Duties:

The Administrative Assistant is a member of the staff of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service (NCCES). The County Administrative Assistant’s primary responsibility is to provide support to the County Extension Director and other staff as assigned. The County Administrative Assistant cooperates with colleagues in the NCCES and county leaders in performing assigned responsibilities. The performance of assigned responsibility is governed by the philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of the NCCES.

Other Work/Responsibilities:

The County Administrative Assistant will provide customer service to call-in and walk-in clientele and should have the ability to respond to a diverse clientele. This position will be responsible for assisting in developing and maintaining the county budget, maintaining grant fund budgets, managing certain Extension reports, and communicating with Extension administration.

Minimum Experience/Education:

Graduation from high school and two years of related experience; or graduation from a two-year secretarial science or business administration program and one year related experience

Department Required Skills:

An extensive knowledge of computer applications is required including Google Drive, Canva, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and must be willing to learn new relevant software programs as they become essential. Must be highly motivated and have strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task. The County Administrative Assistant should possess strong written and oral communication skills. The County Administrative Assistant must be understanding of and able to maintain confidentiality, especially as it relates to personnel issues.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education:

A general understanding of WordPress and web page maintenance is preferred. Knowledge and experience working with MUNIS is preferred. Must have effective time management skills, be able to prioritize tasks, and have proficient writing and oral skills.

Required License or Certification:

Valid Driver’s License and reliable, personal transportation required.
Valid North Carolina driver’s license is required within 60 days of hire and must be maintained.
