Events Manager Job Number Full/Part Time Schedule Salary 22893101 Full Time 8AM - 5PM $58,000 - $96,100 Position Information Under general supervision of the Associate Director for Employer Relations, the Events Specialist organizes and coordinates all aspects of campus-wide and targeted events that serve students involving employers, graduate school representatives, and various speakers, including campus and external partners. The incumbent is also responsible for managing the campus speaker request program. The Events Specialist plans and executes a series of marketing and promotional initiatives to engage both students and employers. Focus on building a better understanding of needs, perceptions, and preferences in order to provide improved and effective service. Oversees and develops effective strategies to engage and serve both students and employers through in-person, virtual, and hybrid formats and program execution responsibilities. Supports publicity and promotional plans through interactions with campus printing, student organizations, campus newspapers, and other service providers. Leads office-wide operational team for specific large-scale events to assure quality planning and delivery of services. Creates event budgets for approval and monitors expenses and revenue against approved budgets. Oversees cost control within established budget parameters. Sets up timelines for program planning, implementation and monitors the integration of various partners to assure quality. Develops and executes concrete problem-solving activities to maximize success in program implementation.The budgeted range is $55,000 - $68,400 and is based on education and years of related experience. Please note that a presentation will be required as part of the selection process. Minimum Requirements Highly developed interpersonal communication skills including political acumen and social perceptiveness. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with diverse populations with competing priorities.
Ability to effectively work with invited guests, donors, government officials and university VIPs.
Skill in effectively meeting budget and time constraints.
Proven ability to work on several tasks simultaneously. Skill at responding effectively to priorities and setting deadlines.
Demonstrated organizational and project management skills to work successfully with clients to produce high quality events that meet client needs and appropriately represent the campus; that is, for fundraising events, skills to provide excellent donor stewardship.
Ability to give clear directives and use independent, rational judgment to make optimal decisions.
Knowledge of principles and practices of volunteer recruitment, supervision, motivation and evaluation.
Highly developed judgment, decision-making and problem recognition/avoidance/resolution skills, including skill in determining those issues/problems that need to be brought to management's attention.
Knowledge and skill to set and monitor work standards and protocols.
Knowledge of crowd management, crowd safety protocols, security and emergency procedures related to small, medium and large scale gatherings.
Experience maintaining a high standard of productivity within a broad scope of responsibility despite frequent interruptions. Ability to complete large volume of diverse tasks efficiently, meeting established deadlines.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of concepts, principles and practices of event planning and public relations, including event design, organization and production.
Knowledge of marketing principles and effective communication strategies to engage various stakeholders.
Adept at learning and implementing new technologies to administer virtual events.
Preferred Qualifications Thorough knowledge of the campus, its vision, mission, programs, policies, achievements and infrastructure. Knowledge of University policies and procedures relating to the use of University facilities; event management and presentation.
