High School graduate, currently attending UK with college-level coursework on early childhood education, horticulture and/or an environmental field.Required Related Experience:
Personal or professional experience working with young children, gardening and/or customer service.
An interest in the environment, plants, sustainability, and/or outdoor activities.Required License/Registration/Certification:
Must be able lift up to 20 lbs regularly and 50 lbs occasionally, work out of doors in varying weather conditions including rain and low and high temperatures, be able to stand for extended periods of time and be a fluent English speaker.
May be required to wear a mask while working in the Kentucky Children’s Garden and adhere to Covid 19 protocol.Shift:
Interns’ work schedules will include weekdays, occasional weeknights and Saturdays during the open season (July through the end of October 2021). Our goal is to be as flexible as possible with students’ classes, but you MUST be able to work 12 hours during the semester and 20-32 hours during the summer.Job Summary:
Assisting with educational programming and garden interpretation for ages 3+.
Planting and maintaining gardens.
Providing a welcoming atmosphere and excellent customer service to all visitors.
Enforcing the rules and policies of the garden in a polite manner.
Operate model trains in the garden.
Cleaning tools and toys daily.
Caring for worm farm and insect displays.
Create social media post on rainy days.
Other duties as assigned.

•A successful applicant will be courteous, prompt, responsible, self-starting, outgoing and comfortable working either independently, or in a team with children in the outdoors
