About the College/Unit/Department:In 2018, The UGA Tifton Campus began a yearlong Centennial celebration with various events to commemorate its 100th anniversary of providing updated research to the community.
Research is done on a wide range of commodities, including cotton, peanuts, vegetables and turf grass, all of which make agriculture the No. 1 industry in Georgia.
In 2004, a teaching program was initiated and it has been growing ever since. College-level instruction on campus is aimed at undergraduate and graduate-degree level study.

Position Summary:This position is responsible for manual work at the journeyman level in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment at the UGA Tifton Campus. Work involves the performance of skilled tasks in accordance with standard trade practices in the installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures. Assignments are made in the form of written oral instructions and may be accompanied by sketches and blueprints, although most work results from inspections and troubleshooting. Work is ordinarily performed independently, subject to inspection in process or upon completion.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:Extensive knowledge of the standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment of the electrical trade.
Considerable knowledge of local and state electrical codes is necessary.
The ability to follow oral and written instructions and to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and diagrams.
Skill in the use and care of tools and equipment of the electrical trade.

Duties/Responsibilities:Inspects, maintains, and repairs lighting and power systems in over 200 buildings associated with the UGA Tifton Campus
Performs a regular walk-thru of all buildings/facilities in an effort to avoid any potential electrical problems and advises appropriate administrators of any alterations and repairs that may need to be handled
Upgrade outdated electrical systems in older buildings and field installations

Duties/Responsibilities:Installs conduit, wiring, pull boxes, and switches required in making additions, extensions, or alterations in electrical systems
