Educational and Experience Requirement:Bachelor’s degree in related field, Master’s degree in an appropriate discipline/field preferred. Three years of experience working within an academic organizational setting. Relevant experience with assessment, assessment software, and/or accreditation desirable. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered for this position.
Nature & Purpose of Position:Supports faculty and staff across the University in programmatic assessment efforts. Assists with implementation and coordination of SHSU’s Core Curriculum Assessment efforts. Provides user training and support for the institution’s assessment management software.
Primary Responsibilities:Oversees, manages, provides training and support, and facilitates reporting for program assessment, core curriculum assessment, and meta-assessment across all departments at the institution. Provides training and support for the institution’s assessment management software, as well as support faculty and staff across the University in conducting ongoing, annual programmatic assessment processes. Performs assessment system management and reporting. Develops and implements resources and services designed to promote, support, and sustain a culture of assessment. Coordinates the collection and scoring of student artifacts for end-of experience assessments to satisfy SHSU’s Core Curriculum Assessment efforts. Assists the Director of Assessment on various assessment projects. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Other Specifications:Strong oral and written communication skills will be necessary. Must have the ability to multi-task, self-initiate, and work cooperatively with others. Exercises excellent judgment in working with administrators, faculty, and staff from across Sam Houston State University.
