Department Summary:

HSC Health is the academic clinical practice plan for the Health Science Center. Focused on primary care and improving health outcomes to all to build a healthier community, HSC Health has 13 unique clinics on the HSC campus as well as an off-site obstetrics and genecology location in medical district of Fort Worth. In each clinic, an interprofessional team works collaboratively to achieve an optimized treatment plan tailored to the individual patient. Physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physical therapists, pharmacists, social workers, psychologists, specialized technicians, and nurses work together as well as intentionally integrate health care students, residents, and fellows into patient care and commit to train providers of the future within the clinical practice.

Position Overview:

The Manager of Clinic Operations will work in partnership with the Directors of Operations and Clinical Services to administer and coordinate all clinical and business operations within HSC Health locations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business administration, nursing, or other closely related field and five (5) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Communication and Language Skills: Ability to listen, understand, and assimilate a variety of information. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret contracts, regulations, and reports.
  • Mathematical Ability: Ability to apply concepts and trend analysis to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practice problems and to deal effectively with a variety of variables. Ability to interpret a variety on instructions, rules, and regulations furnished in written, oral, diagram, and schedule form.
  • Other Skills and Abilities: Computer literate with the ability to use Microsoft Office; NexGen knowledge preferred.

Ensures compliance with all UNT Health/UNTHSC policies and procedures


Responsible for hiring, discipline, conflict-resolution, and evaluations for clinical staff and associated human resources functions


Assists providers and senior management in establishing, implementing, productivity, and performance goals for all employees directly supervised, as requested


Clearly communicates with staff daily


Serves as the key problem-solving and conflict resource for patient, provider, and staff complaints for areas of concern, in conjunction with the Directors of Operations and Clinical Services and/or Medical Director


Coordinate department and clinic communication-focused activities, including monthly staff meetings, regular and frequent leadership meetings, including meetings with Directors of Operations and Clinical Services


Responsible for the effective oversight of patient flow and management of all patient scheduling and tracking


Sets the clinic tone and example for all operational processes


Financial Reporting and Documenting: Analyze or assist with the analysis of financial indicators, billing, reimbursement, and coding, and coordination for the site to ensure that budget is adhered to and revenue is maximized


Assist with the UNT Health budget preparation; Manage clinical business contracts, purchasing, and supplies; Understands, develops, tracks, and recommends staffing models


Process/Continuous Improvement: Actively lead and participate in both department and clinic redesign activities, to ensure the highest standards of behavior and performance are met.


Perform other duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the Department
