Position Title:Maintenance Trades Worker
Position Summary:This position is a part of the carpenter shop, responsible for providing all repair and maintenance service across the university campus. The incumbent performs under general supervision and requires the application of standard trade practices in providing a variety of carpentry maintenance and repair as well as incidental support for electrical and plumbing repairs.
Required Qualifications:• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• Working carpentry experience with basic knowledge of small electrical and plumbing fixes.
• Considerable knowledge in the practices, methods, materials, and tools of Carpentry maintenance.
• Demonstrated ability to perform general carpentry work in the alteration, repair, and
maintenance of buildings, floors, roofs, stairways, partitions, doors, windows, screens, ceiling grids/tiles, accessory hardware fixtures and furniture.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret repair specifications and directions to conduct
research using vendor submittals.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing, decide on means and
methods to accomplish task on work orders with general guidance by supervisor.
• Valid Driver’s License
• Communication and interpersonal skills, customer service oriented.
• Organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to multi-task.
• Basic computer skills.

Conditions of Employment::This position is subject to overtime and schedule changes and may be required to work shifts during weekends, holidays, and special events, and possible snow removal.
Incumbent will be required to participate in the Facilities Management “on-call” program.This position has been designated as essential to the operation of the department, will require reporting to work when the University is officially closed, and is subject to overtime.
