Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Studies

Position Summary:

The Office of the Dean of Arts & Sciences seeks an assistant dean for undergraduate studies. Reporting to the Dean as an essential member of the Dean’s Office leadership team, the assistant dean will:
-Manage academic support projects, programs, and services, including staff, budget, and operations.
-Oversee A&S undergraduate curriculum and enrollment management in undergraduate courses.
-On behalf of the Dean of A&S, serve as liaison to and collaborate with student-centered departments throughout W&M.
-Represent the Dean’s Office on committees, including Educational Policy, Committee on Degrees, and other program and curricular support committees.
-Direct and/or coordinate with A&S and university counterparts on a range of programs and services to help ensure the success of undergraduate students.

Required Qualifications:

•Current employee of W&M
•Master’s degree in an Arts & Sciences academic discipline or higher education
•Significant experience in a higher education environment, working directly with curriculum and/or students
•Demonstrated ability to work effectively and productively with faculty
•Demonstrated ability to work effectively and productively with undergraduate students and their parents/guardians
•Experience with undergraduate curriculum planning and deliver
•Ability to manage office and program budgets
•Ability to analyze and interpret course and enrollment data
•Familiarity with student support services, including registration and academic advising
•Excellent written and oral communication skill
•Proficiency with Microsoft products including Outlook, Word, and Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

•Doctorate
•Experience administering a university program
•Familiarity with course development
•Knowledge of W&M systems and applications including Banner and Qlik

Advertised Pay Range:

Up to $80,000, Depending on Qualifications
