The Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies (PIIRS) and the High Meadows Environmental Institute (HMEI) at Princeton University invite applications for a postdoctoral or more senior research position for the 2021-2022 academic year with the Brazil LAB's Indigenous Ecologies of Knowledges research hub. One postdoctoral fellowship will be awarded to an exceptional recent PhD in the social sciences, humanities, or interdisciplinary environmental science or engineering, with a focus on the Brazilian Amazon, Amerindian thought, indigenous activism, riverbank and quilombola communities, plant domestication and material cultures, conservation, and bio-cultural diversity. Appointment is for one academic year, with the possibility of renewal for a second and third year pending satisfactory performance and continued funding. The appointment will be made through the Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies (PIIRS) and the High Meadows Environmental Institute (HMEI). Applicants must have already demonstrated outstanding scholarly achievement and excellence in teaching. A Ph.D. degree is required. The fellowship's responsibilities include teaching (one semester-long course each year) and actively participating in research, discussions, and scholarly collaborations within the Brazil LAB Indigenous Ecologies of Knowledges research hub and the High Meadows Environmental Institute community. In addition, the successful candidate may have the opportunity to advise students in their area of expertise or related areas. When teaching, the successful candidate will carry a secondary teaching rank. Any teaching role is contingent on sufficient course enrollment and prior approval from the Dean of the Faculty. Appointments will be made at the rank of Postdoctoral Research Associate. In addition to salary and benefits, the program will provide the Fellow with a research fund in the amount of $3,000 per year and office space. The start date of the position could be on or about Fall 2021 or Spring 2022, depending on University travel restrictions and the ability for us to welcome you to campus.
