Job Description/Duties:Tutor undergraduate students one-on-one, modeling how best to study for and think about course content.
Days/Hours Needed:A tutor’s weekly work schedule is flexible. Tutoring sessions are usually held during weekday evenings (5-9 PM) with follow-up sessions held during the tutoring center hours of operation, 8-4:30pm or later. The number of paid tutoring hours can vary depending on your schedule and how many courses you’d like to tutor.
Attending the Fall semester Training Class (INT210) is a requirement for the position. The training class held every Thursday in the fall semester from 2:50 until 4:05 pm.
Campus Location/Bldg.:The Learning Center
Van Hoesen Hall, Room B205
Candidates must be willing to participate in a fall semester-long, two credit training course on Thursdays in the fall semester from 2:50pm-4:05pm. Candidates work towards earning the College Reading and Learning Association Certification as a Level 1 Tutor while employed by The Learning Center.
Physical Demands:None.
Special Conditions for Eligibility:To be considered for the training class (INT210) a candidate should be recommended by a professor for a course the candidate wants to tutor.
A candidate must also have a GPA of 2.5 or higher and have earned a B or higher in courses to be tutored.
