Summary of Duties:
The postdoc will have primary responsibility for two research projects examining toxic impacts from pesticides. The project with Dr. Stark is focused on impacts of insecticides to aquatic invertebrate communities. The candidate will set up and oversee mesocosm experiments with wild-collected aquatic invertebrates. Community counts will be conducted during and at the termination of the experiment. The project with Dr. McIntyre is focused on potential impacts of rodenticides on salmon. The candidate will help design experiments and will be in charge of setting up and conducting the experiments. Following each project, the candidate will have primary responsibility for data analysis and writing manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
Additional duties will include advising and assisting graduate students with projects related to water quality impacts on aquatic organisms. Much of this research is focused on impacts from stormwater runoff and involves testing green stormwater infrastructure treatment systems.
- Ph.D. in aquatic or environmental science, or a related field
- Research experience working with aquatic animals (fish and/or invertebrates)
- Training in aquatic toxicology, including acute and/or sublethal toxicity testing, familiarity with pesticides, experience with mesocosms using aquatic invertebrates
