Post-Masters Clinical Fellow
Eastern Michigan University is seeking candidates for one post-masters clinical fellowship position at Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). This is a 12-month position starting on August 9, 2021.Principal Duties and Responsibilities
The fellowship provides an intensive clinical experience where fellows will be expected to carry a caseload of individual clients and provide several emergency walk-in hours during the course of the week. Fellows will have opportunities to provide outreach programs to the EMU community aimed at prevention, detection, and education regarding mental health issues. Fellows will receive two hours of individual supervision for clinical cases and two hours of group supervision.
Successful candidates must be able to work comfortably both individually and as team members. The fellowship is designed to enhance the clinical skills and facilitate the professional identity development of the fellow within a college mental health setting.
Eastern Michigan University is in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) division with a population of approximately 16,000 students. In terms of the client population seen at CAPS, there is significant diversity in terms of age, ethnicity, SES, and other social identities. Thus, candidates must value diversity and be able to be sensitive to diversity issues. Additionally, clinical work is usually conducted utilizing a short-term therapy model.
Required: A masters degree from an accredited program in social work, mental health counseling, clinical psychology or counseling psychology. These positions are intended for new professionals with limited professional experience subsequent to the receipt of the masters degree.
Preferred: Prior experience working in a university mental health service.
