The Research Program Specialist (RPS) for the Center for Prevention Research and Development (CPRD), within the University of Illinois’ School of Social Work, works on a team that is conducting the evaluation of the Maternal Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) Project in Illinois. The RPS serves as coordinator and manager of team activities, communication, documentation, and logistics for calls/meetings/presentations with external partners. The RPS also works with local MIECHV program sites to oversee the collection of information about staffing.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Data Collection Implementation, Review, and Communication

  • Form mutually beneficial partnerships with MIECHV program site supervisors to collect quarterly staffing data, communicating with them via email/and phone.
  • Coordinate, manage and update the MIECHV staffing web application, which tracks local program staffing levels, with technical support by CPRD software developers.
  • Query and analyze MIECHV staffing data for reporting and dissemination to funders.
  • Collaborate with team members to organize the development of surveys and reports for dissemination.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop research briefs and reports for communication of findings to a variety of audiences, including MIECHV program sites, funders, and partners.

Project Organization, Coordination, and Management

  • Serve as a project coordinator, managing research activities including the development of weekly meeting agendas and notes, internal and external communication, and monitoring the MIECHV team email.
  • Coordinate the planning and logistics of internal and external meetings, trainings, and presentations by overseeing scheduling, communication, and logistics.
  • Develop and organize documentation of file server, project notes, reports, manuals, and presentations.
  • Develop and monitor project timelines for meeting deliverables.
  • Form mutually beneficial partnerships with project funders and serve as the point of contact with them.
  • Monitor and track changes at local MIECHV program sites and communicate and organize the delivery of onboarding meetings, information, and materials with team members and funders.

Collaborate with Team Members to Meet Research Goals

  • Work collaboratively with other team members.
  • Partner with team members to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Other duties and responsibilities appropriate for this Research Program Specialist position.

Minimum Education and Work Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood, Organizational Development, Human Services, Social Work, Public Health, or related social science field. Two or more years of experience working with/coordinating health or human service projects. Experience with data collection and analysis as well as the ability to use Microsoft Excel and graphic layout programs (e.g., Canva) is preferred.

Successful Candidates will have:

Knowledge of the evaluation of prevention and early intervention programs; content knowledge and experience of health and human services with a substantive understanding of early childhood and/or home visiting programs; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work in a team environment; knowledge about working with diverse populations and cultures (e.g., race/ethnicity, class, gender); knowledge of working in an applied research setting; excellent and demonstrated interpersonal, time management, organization, and solution-focused skills.
