General Hospital Veterinary Technician
TemporaryEssential Job Duties:
This temporary position is approximately 10 hours per week, which can include overnight work, as well as weekends, holidays and on-call work, with the potential to become permanent. Working in the general NC State Veterinary Hospital, Terry Center, caring for hospitalized patients. Job duties include IV catheter placement, IV medication administration, walking, feeding and monitoring patients, bladder expressions, pain management, and post-operative monitoring. In addition to working with 4th year students and communicating with co-workers and clinicians on patient status.Is Time Limited:

Prefer 3-5 years veterinary assistant or veterinary technician experience.Department Required Skills:
Prefer previous blood draw, IV catheter placement, patient restraint, ability to assess patients and medical terminology experience.
Prefer ability to administer oral, IV, and IM medications, bladder expressions, venipuncture, and experience with anesthesia recovery.
Excellent communication skills.
Excellent computer skills.
Prefer a team player.
Prefer 3-5 years experience in veterinary specialty practice as a veterinary assistant or technician.
Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) is a plus.
