Clinical Placement Coordinator - La Plata Campus
The Clinical Placement Coordinator (CPC) assumes a leadership role in establishing partnerships between the college’s health programs and clinical facilities for the purpose of securing quality clinical placements for all health students. The CPC collaborates with the dean, department chairs, program directors, course coordinators, and faculty to create a master clinical calendar; manage the health and safety compliance requirements for clinical placements, coordinate faculty and student orientation to clinical facilities; and manage student or faculty clinical placement concerns. Additional responsibilities include clinical placement analysis and assessment, participation in activities required for program approval and accreditation, and operational management of clinical placements.
The work schedule for this position is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Flexibility is required.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities35% Student Clinical Placement
Develop long-term professional and collegial relationships with clinical site staff/administrators through positive communication with clinical sites.Serve as the liaison between the personnel at each healthcare partner and the College of Southern Maryland health programs.Collaborate with department chairs and program directors to determine the number and type of student placements needed for each program per semester.Collaborate with department chairs, program directors and clinical partners to determine availability of the appropriate learning experiences for students at each clinical agency.Secure clinical placement sites, appropriately addressing scheduling issues related to students, faculty, and/or clinical staff.Collaborate with department chairs and program directors to schedule student rotations.Manage the on-campus pre-semester clinical agency orientation.Attend student orientations to present on clinical clearance requirements, records management and use of the 3rd party vendor system.Determine the specific facility orientation requirements at each clinical placement location, such as EHR training, and communicate these clinical entry requirements to faculty and student groups in a timely manner.Collaborate with faculty and clinical agency staff to schedule agency-specific student orientation.Obtain the compliance requirements for each agency; communicate these to students and faculty; and document completion of agency-specific requirements; Coordinate with responsible healthcare partner staff to ensure students remain in compliance with healthcare partners’ clinical requirements through the duration of the program.Provide the clinical agencies necessary documentation regarding student and faculty requirements (ie, CPR, PPD, background check, etc.) Facilitate problem-solving for issues that arise during the semester. Travel to clinical sites as needed. 35% Student and Faculty Health and Requirements Records ManagementEnsure that students and faculty health records are uploaded into the 3rd party vendor system and require student compliance with documentation prior to clinical placement.Communicate with all health students and faculty on an ongoing basis to ensure that student information remains current and that students receive warning when requirements are not met, including immunizations, CPR, liability insurance, health insurance and any other required information.Release health and requirements record of each student/faculty to placement coordinator at clinical placement facility as required by the agency.Assist with addressing health and requirements records questions/issues for health students and faculty.Resolve all student clinical placement and compliance issues.Manage the administration of the 3rd party vendor system. 30% Organizational ManagementFacilitate the acquisition and maintenance of clinical affiliation agreements between healthcare partners and the College of Southern Maryland.Ensure that all clinical affiliate contracts are current.Collaborate with department chairs and program directors to identify potential clinical placement sites and initiate communication with appropriate individuals at the healthcare agency.Lead the establishment of affiliation agreements between the College of Southern Maryland and healthcare agencies through collaboration with the clinical agency staff, health program directors, and CSM legal staff.Manage all required regulatory documentation related to clinical learning experiences.Manage a clinical agency database to include contract status, contact information, clinical requests, placement confirmation or denial, and clinical compliance requirements.Manage a clinical faculty database to include contact information, placement confirmation, and compliance with agency-specific requirements.Manage other administrative activities associated with clinical placement, including adherence to all agency-specific requirements.Collaborate with program directors and department chairs to develop clinical placement policies.Manage clinical schedules and calendars in collaboration with department chairs and program directors.Contribute to annual reports for approval, accrediting, and regulatory agencies. Prepare additional reports as assigned.Manage clinical site evaluations and visits associated with approval, accreditation, and regulatory requirements.Additional Duties:Performs other related work as required. Minimum Education and TrainingBachelor’s degree in related field (Healthcare Management, Business Management, Communications)
Preferred Qualifications: Previous work experience in a higher education or health care environment.Experience in successfully managing complex projects.Experience acting as a liaison between two or more institutions, businesses, or organizations.Experience with regulatory agencies and policies.Experience with calendaring.Experience with conflict resolution.Demonstrated success in working with diverse student populations.
