Loyola University Chicago’s Quinlan School of Business seeks a visionary, collaborative, and proven leader with a record of innovation and strong management in data analytics to serve as its new Director of Analytics.

The Director is charged with helping faculty, students, and professionals to harness the power of data analytics to improve both social and business outcomes. Faculty across Quinlan and Loyola are increasingly harnessing data analytics in their curriculum and the Director will have a unique opportunity to help synchronize these initiatives. The Director will also participate in leveraging data to serve broader, transdisciplinary research goals of Quinlan and the University, including supporting research on intractable social issues such as health equity, climate change, and racial justice.

As part of these efforts, the Director will help to envision and execute the next strategic vision for the CME Group Foundation Business Analytics Lab, which strives to harness the potential of data analytics to improve decisions in fields ranging from financial services to healthcare to environmental sustainability.

Given the overwhelming evidence that diversity contributes to a robust academic environment and to higher performance—and given the specific need for the Director to closely collaborate with diverse faculty, students, staff, alumni, and partners—we seek a Director who has a proven record of valuing diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Key responsibilities for this position include:
•Coordinating collaborative analytics research across departments and with other units at Quinlan and at Loyola.
•Supporting the analytical needs of faculty, including facilitating collaborative analytics research across departments and ensuring access to appropriate data sources.
•Collaborating with corporate partners to identify opportunities for analytics research.
•Developing a clear, compelling, transdisciplinary vision for the Lab that accounts for the impact of COVID and the need for virtual Lab opportunities for remote stakeholders.
•Hosting analytics focused gatherings, including student competitions, seminars, and workshops.
•Teaching two sections of Business Analytics and partnering with the Business Analytics core course coordinator on curriculum development.
•Supporting faculty with the integration of lab tools in the curriculum.
•Supervising the IT & Data Specialist, who provides critical leadership in managing the CME Business Analytics Lab.

Qualifications:

•Master’s degree or higher in analytics, information systems, statistics or a relevant field. PhD preferred.
•5+ years of work experience in analytics, information systems, statistics, or a relevant field
•Teaching experience, preferably both face-to-face and online.

Other Qualifications:
•Proficiency in analytical tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and Excel, programming languages such as R or Python, and statistical software such as SAS or SPSS.
•Experience managing projects in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
•A deep passion for Loyola’s Jesuit mission and for the Lab’s mission of harnessing the power of data to drive better social and business outcomes.
•A strong commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
•A desire to work well with others in a highly collaborative environment.
•An entrepreneurial mindset.
•An ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize among competing tasks.

Working at Loyola University Chicago

Loyola University Chicago, a private university founded in 1870 as St. Ignatius College, is the nation’s largest Jesuit, Catholic University and the only one located in Chicago. Shaped by our city and our Jesuit traditions, Loyola University Chicago offers students an educational environment unmatched for its diversity of thought and experience.

Loyola University Chicago comprises four campuses: Lake Shore (LSC), Water Tower (WTC), Health Sciences (HSC), and the John Felice Rome Center in Italy, and is home to eleven schools and colleges: Arrupe College, Quinlan School of Business, Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing, Stritch School of Medicine, College of Arts and Sciences, School of Communication, School of Continuing and Professional Studies, School of Education, School of Law, School of Social Work, and Graduate School. Loyola also features course locations in Beijing, China; Saigon-Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; Vernon Hills, Illinois (Cuneo Mansion and Gardens); and a Retreat and Ecology Campus in Woodstock, Illinois.

With three campuses spread throughout the greater Chicago area, students have access to hundreds of cultural institutions as well as thousands of internships and networking opportunities with the city's Fortune 500 companies. Study-abroad programs at our Rome and Beijing Centers provide engagement with the global community and economy.

While rigorous programs of research and study are one hallmark of a Jesuit education, we're not just preparing students for a career, we're preparing them for life. We challenge our students to learn broadly, to think critically, to serve generously, to lead with integrity, to respect diversity. We come from all faiths and ethnic and economic backgrounds, with a common purpose of building a better society.

Recognizing Loyola’s excellence in education, U.S.News and World Report has ranked Loyola consistently among the "top national universities" in its annual publications, and named the University a "best value" in its 2008 rankings.

Our faculty take a person-centered approach to education. They’re not just here to teach students what they know, they’re here to teach them to think critically and creatively and to reach for their own discoveries.
