Work StudyPrimary Responsibilities:
The Office Assistant is a student staff member of the Office of Residential Living who assumes major responsibilities in both the office and at assigned moments, in the Residential Living facilities.
As part of their job, OAs serve as a representative for the Office of Residential Living which includes: being knowledgeable of basic Residential Living policies (or understanding of how to locate them), presenting professionally in terms of attire, communication, and interpersonal skills when dealing with University faculty, staff, students, and prospective students along with their families.
OA job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•Answering and placing phone calls to students (current and prospective) and University faculty/staff and vendors
•Scanning, filing, and shredding documents as directed by the Director of Residential Living, Assistant Directors, and Housing Administrative Assistant
•Referring current and prospective students to appropriate resources
•Creating, hanging, or removing flyers, door hangers for Residential Living or other University organizations
•Accompanying Physical Plant or Custodial to unlock or be present for work orders. Completing minor work orders with Residential Living’s tools on an as needed basis with student maintenance staff
•Completing all other duties as assigned by Residential Living administrative staff members
