The School of Public Affairs at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) invites applications to establish and maintain an ongoing pool of lecturer applications from which future appointments to temporary, non-tenure track positions for the Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice will be made.This is a part-time lecturer position with appointments made on a semester-by-semester basis. The person in this position will teach undergraduate-level courses in Criminal Justice. The successful candidate will be qualified to prepare and teach Criminal Justice core courses and/or courses within the CJ option areas. Course offerings include day and evening classes in a variety of formats (e.g., in-seat, hybrid, remote synchronous, and online).Who We Are:The School of Public Affairs (SPA) is a dynamic learning community serving those who seek to make a difference in the public sector. Degrees offered by the School of Public Affairs include the Bachelor of Social Work, Master of Social Work, Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, Master of Criminal Justice, and Master of Public Administration. Our programs emphasize critical thinking and analytical skills necessary for leading and managing effectively in a diverse society. Our graduates are prepared to innovate in the complex world in which we live.The University of Colorado Colorado Springs is one of four campuses in the University of Colorado system and is home to over 10,500 undergraduate and 1,900 graduate students.Job Duties: Duties include class preparation, delivery of course materials, creation of assessments (examinations, papers, learning activities) and grading, and maintaining availability for student consultations during the semester. The position includes regular communication with the program director and staff throughout the semester. What We Offer:Pay rate is dependent on the number of courses taught for the School of Public Affairs (SPA):
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:Has obtained at a minimum a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or a related discipline from an accredited institution, or a Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited law school.Preferred Qualifications: Previous teaching experience which may include teaching at postsecondary levels and/or leading professional trainings.Ability to teach in multiple formats (face-to-face, online, remote synchronous, hybrid).At least 5 years of applied work experience in the criminal justice system.Physical RequirementsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit. Employee is occasionally required to move. Tasks may involve looking at computer screen continuously for long periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

- 1st & 2nd course taught for SPA = $3,250/course3rd & 4th course taught for SPA = $3,450/course5th course and beyond taught for SPA = $3,750/course
