The School of Public Affairs at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) invites applications for two temporary, part-time Field Liaison positions for the Fall 2021 semester, with the possibility of reappointment for future semesters. One field liaison position is assigned to the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program and the other is assigned to the Master of Social Work (MSW) program.

UCCS’s Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) programs launched in Fall 2020. Both programs are in candidacy with accreditation anticipated by 2023. More information about UCCS Social Work is available here: https://spa.uccs.edu/programs/social-work.

Degrees offered by the School of Public Affairs include the Bachelor of Social Work, Master of Social Work, Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, Master of Criminal Justice, and Master of Public Administration. The University of Colorado Colorado Springs is one of four campuses in the University of Colorado system and is home to over 10,500 undergraduate and 1,900 graduate students.

Duties:

The Field Liaison position requires an average of 6 hours of work per week during the 16-week semester. Duties include:

  1. Participate in orientation for field instructors and students entering field.
  2. Monitor students through their job descriptions, learning plans and completion of the assignments.
  3. Foster positive relationships between UCCS and field sites.
  4. Participate in staffing meetings/updates about students placed in field.
  5. Provide support to Field Instructors.
  6. Coordinate with students and Field Instructors to conduct field visits. Provide documentation of visits.
  7. Submit field visit summary to the appropriate Field Director, so the information can be placed in the student’s file.
  8. If a problem arises, document the problem and work with the student and Field Instructor to resolve the problem. Keep appropriate Field Director apprised of progress. The Field Liaison will work with the appropriate Field Director to create a corrective action plan for the student.
  9. Evaluate student’s performance at field practicum to help Field Instructor determine students’ final grades. This evaluation should come from field visits and the evaluations.
  10. Ensure students are entering their time and are up to date on hours. If student is behind in hours, inform the appropriate Field Director of the hour shortage.
  11. At the end of the semester, submit the field evaluation with signatures.
What We Offer:

Pay rate: $2,000 per semester for an average of 6 hours per week.

    Qualifications
    Minimum Qualifications

      An earned Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. A minimum of 24 months full-time, or equivalent, post-MSW professional social work experience. 
    Note: If you are currently a field instructor, you cannot serve as a field liaison.

    Physical Requirements

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit. Employee is occasionally required to move. Tasks may involve looking at computer screen continuously for long periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
