Supervisor of Insurance, Billing & Front Desk Services Job Number Full/Part Time Schedule Salary 22560096 Full Time 8AM - 5PM Commensurate with Experience Position Information Under the direction of the Senior Student Health Services Administrative Director, the Supervisor of Insurance, Billing and Front Desk Services provides leadership and oversight to a cohort of clinical support staff, which focuses on all facets of the Student Health Insurance program, patient registration and appointment functions as well as providing superior customer service. In consultation with Senior Administrators, Student Health leadership and student leadership, plans and determines annual goals and objectives and negotiates the undergraduate and graduate general policies and plans. The Supervisor of Insurance, Billing and Front Desk Services directs clinical office activities; annually collects and disburses premiums; determines waiver standards and comparable coverage levels; and markets and disseminates information related to student health care plans. Student Health provides comprehensive medical services, with an educational orientation, in support UCR's diverse student body and their health and wellness needs including primary care clinic, in-house medical lab, pharmacy and x-ray services, women's health, travel, dental, psychiatric services, preventive care and health education. The Supervisor of Insurance, Billing and Front Desk Services is a member of the Health & Psychological Student Services (HAPSS) leadership team and provides supervision to 2.0 FTE Insurance Staff, 1.0 FTE Billing Staff, and 4.0 FTE Front Desk Staff all of which provide medical office services in Student Health. Education Education Requirements Degree Requirement Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required
Licenses License Requirement Clinical licensing. Preferred
Certifications Certification Requirement Certification as Medical Assistant. Preferred
Conditions Condition Requirement Training in clinical support operations and staffing. Required Experience Experience Requirement 6 - 10 years of related experience. Required Experience using Point and Click or similar medical records system. Preferred Medical billing experience in a college or university health care setting. Preferred Previous supervisory/managerial experience. Preferred Minimum 6 years of experience in medical insurance billing. Preferred
Minimum Requirements Knowledge of HR-related policies and procedures and fiscal/budget processes.
Solid skills in leading and coaching staff.
Must be computer literate.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Solid knowledge of department clinical support operations, policies and procedures.
Solid supervisory skills to communicate and monitor established priorities, objectives and timelines.
Solid interpersonal skills in order to collaborate and problem-solve with diverse groups effectively.
Solid knowledge of business related software programs.
Solid knowledge of electronic/medical records systems.
Effective decision-making, project and initiative leadership skills.
Solid knowledge of insurance and claims-related processes.
Solid knowledge associated with administrative processes to recommend, implement and monitor efficient outpatient clinical support services.
Solid knowledge of patient registration and appointment processes.
Knowledge of ICD-9 diagnosis coding and CPT procedural coding
Experience giving public presentations to diverse audiences
Ability to respond with flexibility and efficiency to frequent changes in task focus, competing priorities and multiple deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of University policies related to cash handling, cash control and deposits.
Extensive knowledge of health insurance administration preferably in Student Health Services and/or Outpatient Clinic Operations.
Knowledge of HIPAA, FERPA, and California state laws regarding privacy and confidentiality of health information.
Bilingual in English and Spanish
