Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.:

Prior hardware and software troubleshooting experience.
Ability to read and understand statistical reports and technical manuals.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interface and collaborate with technical teams, project managers, and office staff.
Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Access, Excel, Word, Outlook) and other common software products such as Anti Virus, Spyware, Adobe Reader, WinZip, Ghost
Skills in problem resolution to include performing detailed analysis, problem identification, strong troubleshooting skills; ability to fix increasingly complex problems.
Effective time management skills, ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adhere to time action plans.
Strong interpersonal skills
Attention to detail
Availability to work evenings and/or weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience in college admission, higher education or secondary education.
Experience with a Student Information System
General knowledge of Texas State University-San Marcos.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems.

Job Description:

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions seeks a System Support Specialist I responsible for providing functional and technical support for a variety of systems required to support the department. Position will provide regular maintenance, assist with upgrade testing, document system processes and provide support and back-up for the System Support Specialist II.

Job Duties:

Responsibilities include providing primary support with installation and troubleshooting of PC’s, peripherals, servers, printers and software. Provide training, as well as functional and technical support to staff and student employees of the Undergraduate Admission Office with PC-based applications including Microsoft Office products, SharePoint, and SAP. Provide functional and technical support for the Banner SIS system and related software products, including daily monitoring, troubleshooting system problems, providing regular maintenance, and training staff members on Banner system. Provide security and role definition support. Normal work hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. occasional weekend and evening work required.
