Job Description:

The Department of Management seeks an industry leader for the Commercial International Bank (CIB) Professorship in Banking for one-year appointment to begin in fall 2021. The holder of the chair will be hired at the level of Professor of Practice (PoP). The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching, conduct applied research addressing problems of the banking sector and develop programs with CIB that contribute to the development of innovative banking practices in Egypt.

The chair will facilitate the development of new courses that focus on the theoretical and practical aspects of retail banking. It will form the nucleus of a teaching team that will expose students to multiple perspectives on retail banking (including concepts of retail banking, types of accounts, mortgages, personal loads, debit/credit cards, etc.), challenging their thinking and encouraging new practices that result in superior business leadership.

The department of management seeks an exceptional candidate whose research complements our existing strengths in the department while transcending traditional research in the area of retail banking. The candidate will also fine tune research efforts in this area by developing regional case studies, fostering collaboration with international experts and scholars, and producing high-quality research papers which tackle timely topics of banking that address the different issues related to emerging markets with emphasis on the Middle East and Africa regions.

Finally, the chair will serve as a link between the school and the banking community including regulators, boards, executives and others. This will constitute an effective communication channel between academia and practice, which will take the form of workshops, conferences and other activities directed towards the development of retail banking skills of both faculty and students.

While PhD holders from accredited universities are preferred, the primary criteria for appointment are a demonstrated record of professional impact in the field with a substantive experience in the area of banking.
