Position Description:
As a key member the Human Resources unit in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, the incumbent will serve as the department's Human Resources Analyst for staff personnel. Under the direct supervision of the Human Resources Manager, the incumbent is directly responsible for the range of personnel actions including advising employees regarding personnel policies and best practices as well as ensuring adherence to all applicable University, State, and Federal employment and personnel practices, laws, and agreements, as applicable.

The incumbent will take the lead in onboarding new hires and separating employees, as well maintaining the entire life cycle of personnel workforce administration such as training compliance, payroll processes, leave of absences and drafting and delivering general letters and memorandums. The incumbent will be responsible for accurately processing staff and academic (APO) payroll. The incumbent will serve as the back-up administrator for academic personnel administration under the APO for all academic faculty and non-academic senate appointments.

The Human Resources Analyst will interpret UC policies and Labor Contracts including but not limited to: MSP, PPSM, TX, RX, CX, SX, UAW to all staff, faculty and students. The incumbent will document internal procedures and business processes consistent with the University personnel and payroll systems and maintenance of all staff personnel files and general personnel HR bulletin boards.
