Required License/Registration/Certification:

For Nurse Practitioner applicants, active Kentucky Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license.

For Nurse Practitioner applicants, Acute Care certification is preferred.

For Physician Assistant applicants, current National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification and active Kentucky Physician Assistant (PA) license.

Employment is contingent upon the University’s verification of credentials as required by state law and University policies.

Physical Requirements:

Pushing, pulling, lifting, standing, sitting. Sitting at computer workstation for extended periods. Repetitive motion.

Job Summary:

The Department of Anesthesiology-ICU is seeking an APP/Inpatient/Night Shift (APP).

The APP works in collaboration with a multidisciplinary health care team. The APP functions as a member of the primary medical management team during the night shift.

The successful applicant will have the exemplary ability to assess health status; perform and document a complete medical history and physical examination for critically ill patients; order and collect data for diagnostic procedures; coordinate daily rounds with multidisciplinary medical and surgical teams; and provide continuity of care and strategic planning within the critical care service.

Applicants should have exemplary diagnosis skills and abilities. This includes collaborating with multidisciplinary medical and surgical teams in making diagnoses of acute and complex acute conditions, managing diagnostic tests through ordering, interpretation, performance, and supervision, formulating differential diagnoses by priority, and diagnosing complications and ordering appropriate interventions.

The successful applicant will have exemplary ability to formulate, implement, and modify plan of care as needed. This includes identifying expected outcomes from diagnosis, and formulating and documenting a plan of care to address complex acute and critical care needs.

Responsibilities also includes utilizing evidenced-based practice guidelines or protocols in an individualized, dynamic plan of care that can be applied across the continuum. It would further include prescribing diagnostic strategies and therapeutic interventions both pharmacologic, non-pharmacologic and surgical, managing further diagnostic tests through ordering, interpretation, performance, and supervision, performing advanced procedures consistent with privileges and competency validation including line and tube placement and removals.

Applicants should have exemplary ability to practice professionally and provide excellent customer service. Experience or specialized training in an intensive care setting is preferred.

Acute Care certification and/or eligibility preferred.
Critical care experience preferred.
