The Assistant Director for Compliance Services works cooperatively with athletic department staff, coaches, and student-athletes to provide advice and information on compliance-related matters as well as to resolve and monitor compliance-related issues. This position will serve as a lead for NCAA Bylaw 17 (Playing & Practice Seasons) and Bylaw 20 (Division Membership) and will work under the direction of the Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance Services.

Your responsibilities include:
  • Run the day-to-day compliance operations for a select number of sport programs, ensuring compliance with all NCAA bylaws, including but not limited to the following areas:
    • Bylaw 11: coaching/staff limitations and tracking; coaches recruiting exams
    • Bylaw 12: agents; student-athlete employment; promotional activities; seasons of competition; participation with pro teams
    • Bylaw 13: recruiting materials; contacts and evaluations tracking; official and unofficial visits; NLIs; publicity approval; camps and clinics; precollege expenses
    • Bylaw 14: initial, transfer and continuing eligibility; eligibility waivers; full-time enrollment; roster management
    • Bylaw 15: athletic aid limits
    • Bylaw 16: complimentary tickets; travel per diem; team entertainment; occasional meals; meals incidental; awards; benefits; Student Assistance Fund
    • Bylaw 17: CARA, RARA, playing season, TMP, foreign tour; outside competition
    • Bylaw 20: sport sponsorship tracking
  • Serve as the Bylaw 17 (Playing & Practice Seasons) and Bylaw 20 (Division Membership) subject matter expert within the compliance office; will be responsible for keeping team members informed on current legislation within the bylaw and apprised of upcoming deadlines relative to Bylaw 17 and Bylaw 20 matters.
  • Oversee the execution of CPR, AED, 1st Aid tracking.
  • Assist with rules education programming.
  • Assist with providing NCAA and PAC-12 rules interpretations.
  • Assist with research and preparation of NCAA legislative waivers as deemed applicable.
  • Assist with investigation and preparation of rules violation reports.
  • Assist with fiscal monitoring of Compliance Services budget and budgetary decisions.
  • Serve as the compliance liaison to other DAPER units as assigned.
  • Co-lead the annual submission of Sport Sponsorship & Demographics Report.
  • Prepare reports as assigned.


To be successful in this role you will bring:

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and concurrently advance multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and ownership of projects.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to routinely and independently exercise sound judgment in making decisions.
  • Demonstrated experience working independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.


In addition, preferred qualifications include:
  • Master's degree and/or J.D.
  • Previous experience in NCAA Athletics Department
