The Creative Arts Therapy Department of Nazareth College in Rochester, NY invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in Art Therapy to begin August 2021. The department seeks candidates committed to teaching excellence at a comprehensive institution that supports both liberal arts curricula and professional programs. The position involves teaching and service. The teaching is in the graduate art therapy program, which is a 60-credit hour program culminating in a master’s degree in creative arts therapy that meets education requirements for the New York Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT) and the ATR/ATR-BC.

Required Education: A Doctorate in Art Therapy or related field (will consider ABD).

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:  ATR-BC and at least 3 years of full-time art therapy experience.

Preferred Qualifications: LCAT or LCAT eligible and ability to demonstrate strong college teaching experience including but not limited to Art Therapy Theories and Practice, Methods and Materials, Group Art Therapy, Art Therapy Assessment, Art Therapy Internship, Psychopathology, Legal and Ethical Issues, and Human Development.

Theoretical knowledge such as but not limited to trauma informed care, the Expressive Therapies Continuum, media dimension variables, and diversity, inclusion, and social justice in art therapy.

A commitment to interprofessional research, teaching, and collaboration is strongly encouraged.
