This is highly responsible administrative work in providing administrative assistance, clerical support and secretarial services to the Provost/VPAA. The employee is required to exercise considerable initiative, independent judgment and discretion in performing administrative duties. Work assignments are usually received with only broad statements of objectives and are performed with considerable independence. Work is normally reviewed on the basis of results obtained. Training and Experience: A two year degree, having successfully completed courses in business communications, data processing software applications, typewriting/word processing and general office procedures, or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required
The ability to operate modern office machines, word processors and personal computers is required. Testing Requirements:Illustrative Examples of Work: Greets individuals and general public; provides information pertaining to organizational procedures and policies; interprets rules, policies and regulations Coordinates and supervises work of student assistants; keeps varied administrative and fiscal records Prepares agenda for meetings; completes public reports; questionnaires, documents, schedules, tables, records and forms Composes routine hire letters, answers the telephone and will make travel arrangements post pandemic; arranges conferences and makes appointments/web ex for departmental heads and other staff members. Prepares and channels various interoffice forms, requisitions, etc. Processes completed change of grade forms, transient forms, removal of incomplete grades, etc., and maintains log book. Operates various office machines and maintains supply inventory. Maintains central filing system in workroom.
