The Facilities Maintenance Department supports the academic, research, housing, and dining facility needs for the University of North Texas while providing responsible stewardship and efficient operation of the University’s physical assets. The Facilities Maintenance team performs routine and preventative maintenance and repairs of the campus buildings and utility infrastructure. Grounds services provides an aesthetically pleasing environment for University faculty, staff, students, and visitors by maintaining all campus turf, landscapes, irrigation system, litter control, solid waste management and recycling. Facilities Maintenance maintains, repairs, constructs, and renovates University facilities and installed systems in accordance with applicable codes and regulations, and in conformance with University policies and standards.

The Facilities organization at UNT is a service provider comprised of the following divisions FPDC; Facilities Maintenance (FM) and Facilities Support & Services (FSS). The Auxiliary Maintenance Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Sr Administrative Specialist to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
This position is responsible for managing the administrative operations and customer related services for the Facilities Auxiliary Maintenance Section.
Coordinates activities and acts as the Department’s liaison with the Housing Department, Dining Facilities, Sorority Houses, and other entities in the Facility Department handling issues that are very important, time sensitive, and confidential.
This position serves as the primary contact for all customers, contractors, and departmental functions to include recommending and implementing administrative departmental procedures.
Duties have substantial variety and are often not routine.
- Helps to maintain the work order system process to distribute work orders, enter labor, collect work order data and reporting.
- Reviews monthly inspection reports from Hall Directors documenting work requested and pending completion from safety checks at all residential facilities and common areas.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with Housing, Dining and Auxiliary staff regarding work orders, projects, budgets and Hall Director specialized requests. Evaluating facts and/or concerns to route calls and/or customers appropriately.
- Assist the supervisors with the procurement process and initiating the Accounts Payable payment process for maintenance invoices from contractors.
- Compile and maintain records of staff time and labor and provide direction, supervision and training of student administrative staff.
- Perform office reception duties, provide information and assistance to contractors and take messages or make referrals to other staff as appropriate.
- Obtain essential supplies, material and equipment for Maintenance office staff and technicians.
- Some overtime may be required, including weekends
- Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree and three years of highly responsible and varied office administration or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and trainingKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Exceptional customer service skills.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
• Knowledge of accounting/budgeting procedures.
• Ability to work under pressure, to adjust to constant changes, to handle multiple tasks, and to coordinate the work of others.
• Ability to keep complex records, to assemble and organize data of complex
nature, and to prepare and submit reports in acceptable formats.
• Ability to conceptualize, plan and organize multiple programs and assignments effectively.
• Ability to work on complex and confidential tasks utilizing judgment, tact, and resourcefulness.
• Skill in developing and maintaining good working relationships.
• Knowledge of policies, practices, procedures and terminology of assigned

Possession of a valid Texas driver’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment; ability to drive a vehicle and maintain coverage under University liability insurance policy, if required to drive University vehicles.Work Schedule:
