Position Summary

Statistician for Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI. Requires Ph.D. in Statistics, Information Studies, or related quantitative social science discipline + 5 years of experience to include: statistical consulting, research, evaluation, and data management/ analysis; use of R, MPlus, SPSS, Stata, and Qualtrics statistical software; and participation in collaborative grant writing.

Duties: Increase quality and quantity of sponsored research at MSU by contributing to pre-award statistical consulting, including serving as an investigator on grant proposals, participating in grant preparation, writing methodology and statistical analysis plans sections of grant proposals, sample size planning, development of research-specific aims and hypotheses, and tailoring statistical approaches to research aims. Collaborate with clients and research partners from a variety of academic disciplines within MSU and/or from external organizations. Serve as lead statistician on projects. Publish research. Prepare bids (cost estimates). Offer resources and advice to clients and research partners about research design and statistical methods. Explain concepts, methods, and how to run or interpret statistical analyses. Develop and teach workshops on research design, quantitative methods, and associated topics (e.g., using software for data collection, using statistical software, data management, reproducible research, etc.).
