Position Summary

The Department of Family and Community Medicine (FCM) in the College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM) at Michigan State University seeks a visionary leader to serve as department chair. This is an exceptional leadership opportunity for a physician with an unwavering commitment to excellence in clinical care, education, and research to advance the department in new and exciting ways.

FCM currently has a vibrant and diverse clinical population at its on-campus facility and is looking to expand its role in health care for the university population and the mid-Michigan community by dramatically increasing its faculty practice size.

We contribute to the college's curriculum for students in all four years of their undergraduate medical education. We are working toward adding our family practice perspective to all MSU COM courses in innovative ways and are interested in finding a leader in medical education to help us with this initiative.

The department has a growing research division led by a funded Ph.D. researcher who has published multiple papers on aging and has large outreach projects, including a new fee-for-service line. We are looking to advance our research in aging and other topics across the continuum of Family Practice.

The position is full-time, a competitive salary and benefits package will be offered.

Required Degree

Doctorate -Osteopathy

Minimum Requirements

DO degree; meets required qualifications for a State of Michigan medical license; board certified in family practice (AOBFP or equivalent).

Desired qualifications include a commitment to inclusive excellence, a history of promoting diversity in research, teaching, and service—experience in medical education, and graduate medical education.
