 The Division of Education at Mount Saint Mary College (NY) seeks applications for one (1) tenure-track Assistant Professor of Education in Special Education with a start date of August, 2021.



Candidates seeking this position should have an earned doctorate in special education or a related field, with teaching experience in K-12 schools with diverse populations.   Candidates should have a strong theoretical background and knowledge of research-based assessments, methods, and strategies for teaching all learners.  In addition, qualified candidates should be able to demonstrate the use of instructional technology in face-to-face, hybrid/Hy-Flex, and online learning environments.


Primary Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will teach courses in special education and related areas that support our childhood and adolescent certification programs.  The Division of Education places a priority on the importance of clinical experience in teacher education and working closely with schools in the community; therefore, several courses the successful candidate will teach require faculty-supervised, embedded fieldwork.  In addition to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, faculty members are expected to maintain active participation in research, provide academic advisement for students, work collaboratively with college faculty, and have a commitment of service to the college and community.

Enrollment/Student Body Profile. Our student body is made up of 2,700+ students representing over 16 states and several countries. 1,800 are traditional undergraduate students.

Academic Programs. The Mount offers 50 undergraduate programs leading to a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree. Our collaboration programs offer you a chance to earn a bachelor's degree, plus an advanced degree with schools like Fordham University, Pace University, and New York Medical College. The college also offers master's degrees in education, business, and nursing.
