The University of Maryland Carey School of Law is seeking an Adjunct Professor to instruct and supervise students in the Consumer Protection Clinic. The position is a one-semester appointment from January 2022 through May 2022.
- Supervise clinical law students enrolled in the Consumer Protection Clinic who are providing assistance to Maryland consumers. This may involve attendance at client meetings, holding weekly meetings with student attorneys, and reviewing student attorney work product. Note: Supervision of students will ordinarily take place at Maryland Carey Law in Baltimore. While the Consumer Protection Clinic is currently operating virtually due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we expect to return to in-person instruction by August 2021. Teach weekly class sessions about Maryland consumer law, working with clients, and practical aspects of lawyering. Liaise with attorneys in the Consumer Protection Division of the OAG to plan and manage work flow to students, resolve any student work product issues, and coordinate supervision.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- J.D. plus license to practice law in Maryland. Minimum 5 years of experience as a practitioner in a field related to consumer litigation Experience supervising other lawyers or students in their legal work preferred Prior teaching experience preferred
Compensation: Stipend of $6250 (or equivalent of 5 credits of adjunct rate for the semester).
