The Department Admin Specialist provides administrative support to the faculty and students of The Tyler School of Art and Architecture assisting both Academic Affairs and the Art History Department.

The Department Admin Specialist will serve as the course scheduler for the Tyler School of Art and Architecture. They will coordinate with Tyler’s six academic departments and Academic Affairs to manage the course schedule and to schedule reports. They will oversee the organization and promotion of electronic student feedback forms and assist faculty in the use of the electronic system. The Department Admin Specialist will support Academic Affairs with other curricular projects and course-related assessment efforts, such as administration of the Student Learning Assessment Management System and the Community Engagement Reporting System.

The Department Admin Specialist will support faculty by assisting with Concur expense reimbursements or speaker fees/travel arrangements and managing communications (including listservs) and arrangements for all-department events. The Department Admin Specialist will also support hiring committees with faculty searches including coordinating applications, scheduling meetings and interviews, making travel arrangements, and corresponding with candidates. The Department Admin Specialist will support students in announcing exams and defenses and managing student communications. The Department Admin Specialist will support the Department Chair with program and accreditation reviews including collection materials and synthesizing data.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and 2-3 years’ experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

 

Required Skills & Abilities:

    Demonstrated organizational skills, along with the ability to multi-task and successfully complete projects with competing deadlines.Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with a diverse group of individuals both inside and outside of the university.Ability to take initiative and work independently and in a team environment.Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including proofreading skills.Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite, including advanced database skills.Demonstrated expertise in manipulating data and producing reports.Ability to articulate the vision and mission of the Tyler School of Art and Architecture and the Flexibility and willingness to adjust to a dynamic University work environment.Demonstrated professional demeanor and ability to handle confidential information.
 

 

Preferred:

* Familiarity with professional programs in Architecture and related built environment professions preferred.

*Prior experience with student advising, particularly career advising preferred. Experience with Concur and Banner preferred.

This position requires a background check.

Please note this position will temporarily work remotely, the duration of remote work will be at the discretion of Temple University and the department.
