Job Description Summary:

BASIC FUNCTION:

In joint collaboration with URI Athletics and the Harrington School of Communication and Media, direct, produce, distribute, and stream all live, home, athletic events in accordance with parameters set forth by the Atlantic 10 (A10), the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) for Football, and its partners. Hire, train, and schedule a team of undergraduate students from the Harington School who will serve as interns and teach courses in sports media production and/or general video production.

Duties and Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work closely with Rhode Island Athletics and Learfield/Rhody Sports Properties to produce feature-video content for GoRhody.com, social media platforms, YouTube, and other media outlets. Attend most home games, as applicable.

Supervise and expand the sports media internship program that mentors, trains, and schedules dozens of Harrington School students who share responsibility in filming, editing, and distributing all home game content for football, women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, and softball. (Other sports will be added in the future.)

Stream all home events across every team. This number could fluctuate based on national television broadcasts.

Oversee all aspects of production.

Recruit and train students in the following roles: Producer/Director, Assistant Director, Technical Director, Graphics Coordinator, Time-out coordinator, Camera Operators (5) – to provide a dynamic, multi-camera production, Play-by-play and color analyst broadcasters, and Other roles as needed (feature videos for halftime content, PSAs, runners, etc.)

Teach one course each semester, including summer, in either sports video production or general video production.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

LICENSES, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:

Single Mode Fiber Send / Receive System; 4K Video cameras; Wireless communications system; Wireless Video system; Digital SDI video recorders / players; Audio console with DANTE; Wireless Audio system; 2 ME Video Production Switcher with DVE; Reading and Evaluating Waveform Monitors and Vectorscopes; Slow Mo Replay; Sports Graphics System (such as Ross Expression); 4K Video Router; CCU operation; Computer Lighting Board / DMX lighting concepts; Venue and Studio lighting concepts; Wireless Parabolic Microphones; Basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere and Illustrator; HDMI and SDI video conversion; HD file format transcode / conversion concepts; IP Video transport systems; and, Teleprompter operation.

Required Qualifications:

REQUIRED:

1.Bachelor’s degree.

2.Minimum of three years professional video production experience in sport.

3.Demonstrated wireless systems experience (i.e., communications, video, audio, microphones).

4.Demonstrated lighting concepts experience (i.e., DMX, computer boards, Venue, Studio).

5.Demonstrated knowledge of Adobe (i.e., Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere, Illustrator).

6.Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task in a deadline-driven environment.

7.Demonstrated strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

8.Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.

9.Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.

10. Must be able to safely lift 25 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

PREFERRED:

1.Bachelor’s degree in film and video production or related field.

2.Demonstrated experience as a director or producer of athletic events.

Environmental Conditions:

This position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions. Must be able to safely lift 25 pounds. Must be capable of standing and sitting for a minimum of three hours. Must be capable of climbing and working from an 8-foot ladder. Must be able to work nights and weekend hours.
