TC Consumer Coach (Temporary Employee Pool)

Primary Purpose:
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Martin Gipson Socialization Center, provide on-site support for members and visitors of the Martin Gipson Socialization Center and Community Re-Entry Program.

Essential Functions:
1. Provide support to Consumers of Mental Health Services: this includes, but is not limited to:
• Advocating empowerment.
• Encouraging and assisting all Consumers to become their own advocates to the best of their individual ability.
• Aiding Consumers who wish to become active in the self-help movement.
• Providing Consumers with referrals to community services.

2. Contribute to and be an active member of the PWLC group, including steering meetings, classes, and activities.

3. Performing other duties as assigned by the Director of Martin Gipson Socialization Center.

4. Positive attitude, proven ability to work successfully with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion.

5. Able to follow oral and written instruction.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Twelve (12) months volunteer or paid experience in a mental health related field.
• Applicant must currently be receiving services from San Joaquin County Behavioral Health Services.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Volunteer or paid experience in a helping profession desired.
• Certified Wrap Facilitator.

The position requires performing physical activities, including standing, bending, kneeling, stretching, and reaching while interacting with adults and significant others within the field and within the office. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Position is scheduled for 10 hours per week, during Gipson Center’s normal business hours of 8am-5pm, M-F.

Hiring Range: Commensurate with experience, non-exempt
