About gui2de

The Georgetown University Initiative on Innovation, Development and Evaluation (gui2de) conducts empirical field-based research to assess the impact and effectiveness of interventions and policies aimed at empowering individuals in developing countries to improve their lives. Major research themes include governance and accountability, the promotion of agency in the delivery of health, education, and other public services, the role of mobile technology in development, and financial development and integration.

Job Description

A new project at gui2de, the COVET project, seeks to understand the impact of Covid-19 on the healthcare services offered by private providers in multiple providers. This project, in collaboration with McGill University and other partners will result in new primary and secondary data. The Data and Research Manager will work closely with the COVET research teams to provide analytical and planning support to the COVET project and related research work. The Data and Research Manager will support data collection and analysis and may also manage student research assistants.


The Data and Research Manager will:

  • Provide technical support to the COVET project research team, including refining survey instruments and protocols and translating them to digital data collection tools;
  • Work with Principal Investigators to implement research design, sampling, data management and general research protocols;
  • Work closely with project management team to ensure field staff collect, maintain, and deliver high quality data;
  • Manage organization of and access to project databases and secure servers with appropriate data privacy and security standards;
  • Take part in meetings with local partners and data collection firms as necessary to understand data availability and limitations;
  • Develop results dissemination, including reports, presentations, and manuscripts; and
  • Support the dissemination of results via presentations and reports to academic and non-academic audiences.

  • Masters in public policy/economics, or a field related to international economic development or agriculture;
  • Extensive experience with data management and econometrics;
  • Advanced knowledge of Stata and SurveyCTO is required;
  • Experience preparing reports and documents during and after field-based data collection is required, including both quality monitoring and statistical analysis;
  • Experience supervising data collection and teams of field workers, designing surveys and implementing programs a plus;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are required.
